A Hannibal property slated for demolition has been gifted to the city.

At Tuesday night’s city council meeting, the council learned that the owner of the property at 115 North Arch has donated the land to the city.

The property had been condemned, and sits on an alley that had been closed because of illegal dumping.

A title search showed the property is clear of any debt or taxes.
The council agreed to accept the property.

In other business, the council approved the rezoning of three properties on Market Street from commercial to mobile homes.

And, a second and final reading was given to a bill approving the voluntary annexation of property between Veterans’ Elementary School and Clover Road Christian Church on Highway W.

The land will be zoned local business.
