The team with the best record in the Prospect League for 2016 showed why Thursday night as the Sliders lit up the Hannibal Cavemen 15-0 win in Springfield.

The Sliders set the tone in the first inning, sending eleven men to the plate and scoring eight times. The big blow of the inning was a grand slam home run off the bat of right fielder Brian Cox, who had led off the inning with a triple and scored the first run of the frame.

Springfield piled on in the middle innings, scoring four more in the fourth, and single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh.

Meanwhile, the Cavemen managed only two hits off Sliders' pitching.

Hannibal's final home games are Friday night, with the DuPage Drones in town for a doubleheader at Clemens Field. The first pitch for game one is scheduled for 4:38 p.m. You can listen to the webcast here.
