The Hannibal Board of Public Works issued a statement Wednesday in response to the failure of Proposition S in Tuesday’s election.

BPW officials thanked the voters for casting their ballots Tuesday, and will now move forward, consulting with their Board of Directors and other city officials to come up with the most favorable way to fund stormwater system repairs and maintenance activities.

Those discussions with begin at the next BPW board meeting Tuesday, April 16th at 4 p.m. at the BPW Service Center. The meeting is open to the public.

BPW officials say that, if Prop S had passed, they could have implemented a fee structure that would eventually pay for large scale infrastructure repairs. But, for now, they will have to continue to make temporary repairs.
