JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - A Missouri Senate panel is set to vote today on a proposal by a Columbia Republican that would expand gun protection in the state constitution. The state's constitutional already enshrines the right to bear arms, but the measure by Senator Kurt Schaefer would define the right to bear arms as "inalienable" and require the state to defend against any "infringement" of that right.
