The Quincy Family YMCA will continue their Thursday free food distribution the May 2021. They will be handing out close to 1,000 boxes of food each week. Dates you will be able to pick up your free box of food are Thursday May 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th until 4 pm or while supplies last.

The Food Box Program, to date, has given out over 9,000 boxes of food to the community. Plus, with the program being extended, Quincy YMCA will able to deliver even more boxes of food (over 4,000 boxes), according the Quincy Family YMCA Press Release.

The process will be the same; starting at 4 pm people are to drive to the Quincy Family YMCA parking lot where they will be able to get one box of fresh food for themselves or their family. In addition to the YMCA parking lot, you may also pick up a food box at the Bethel AME Church (9th & Oak) and The Salvation Army Family Services Center (501 Broadway), both in Quincy. Also, Unity High School in Mendon, Community Center for Christ Assistance Center in Camp Point, and Liberty Christian Church. So, if you can't make it to the YMCA there are other places to get a free box of food.

The Food Box Program is possible due to a USDA Farmers to Families Food Box Program, that provides in each food box a gallon of milk and a variety of fresh, perishable food. As always, you do not need to show any identification and proof of income when getting a food box. BIG shout out to the Quincy Family YMCA to provide this to those in need and to keep in going once again for the month of May.
