Former Postmaster Jailed for Palmyra Post Office Burglary
A former postmaster is suspected of burglarizing the Palmyra Post Office.
Palmyra Police received a report of a possible burglary at the post office about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Monroe City Police were advised that 40 year old John Chapman of Monroe City was a person of interest and could be in possession of stolen antiques and other items from the post office.
Chapman was located in Monroe City Wednesday night, allegedly in possession of items taken from the Palmyra Post Office.
A search of Chapman’s home revealed other items that had been reported stolen.
Chapman is in the Marion County Jail on a 24-hour hold.
