Excess Heat Warnings in Effect, Area Cooling Centers Open

Excessive Heat Warning remain in effect or go into effect for northeast Missouri and western Illinois Wednesday.

Officially, the warning for the Missouri counties of Audrain, Lincoln, Marion, Monroe, Pike, Ralls and Shelby went into effect Tuesday, while the warning for Knox and Lewis county Missouri and Adams, Brown and Pike counties in Illinois go into effect at noon Wednesday.

The Excessive Heat Warnings remain in effect for everybody through Saturday night.

The National Weather Service expects the combination of high temperatures around 100 and dewpoints around 70 to result in heat index values from 105 to 110 through Saturday.

Those most at risk in the extreme heat are the very young, the elderly, those without air conditioning and those participating in strenuous outdoor activities.
