This is one case where your eyes might deceive you. If you've heard reports that Dirt Cheap is declaring bankruptcy and closing all stores, that's reportedly correct. But, it's not the Missouri thing you might think it is.

I saw this report from KSLA saying that Dirt Cheap was declaring bankruptcy and closing all of their stores. The Daily Reader says that the parent company Channel Control Merchants was closing all of the stores to pay off debt.

For the record, this is a Dirt Cheap location in Texas. Does that remind you of a Missouri brand?

The Dirt Cheap brand in Missouri is NOT going bankrupt and/or closing. The Dirt Cheap brand that's based out of Mississippi IS the company closing stores as they go into bankruptcy. It's extremely confusing as both companies have a mascot that looks like some type of chicken. On first glance, I was convinced that it was the Dirt Cheap that has numerous Missouri locations that was in trouble. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone which is why I'm sharing this.

If you have a friend that contacts you in a panic that Dirt Cheap is going out of business, show them this. There are enough businesses struggling this year. We don't need more Missouri brands to join them.
