The River Roads Chapter of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) is organizing a Christmas Toy Run to benefit The Salvation Army’s 2013 Christmas Toy Town programs in Quincy and Hannibal.

The Quincy Toy Run will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 16 when the riders will group at the TNT Dealership at 52nd and Oak in Quincy. The bikes will ride in “parade formation” south on 48th to Maine, west to 5th, then north to Vermont and into the Kroc Center parking lot at 405 Vermont. Each rider (and passenger) will present a new toy to Salvation Army officials for the Toy Town program, which provides toys for families in need.

Those riding from TNT to Hannibal will stage at 12:30 p.m. and depart from TNT at 12:45 p.m. to arrive at the Hannibal Walmart at 1:30 p.m. From there they will proceed to The Salvation Army at 302 Broadway. Toys will be distributed on December 20 in Hannibal and December 18 and 19 in Quincy.

Toy Runs have become a part of many HOG chapters’ community efforts world-wide and often include hundreds of motorcycles, if weather cooperates. Good weather or bad, this year’s Toy Run will take place. Salvation Army Major Andrew Miller will participate in the ride.

Area residents, who would like to participate, can pick up an Angel Tree tag and drop off a new, unwrapped toy at TNT Harley Davidson at 5101 Oak Street by the morning of Friday, November 15.
