Central Illinois Brothers Get Decades For Armed Robbery
Two central Illinois brothers in their teens have been sentenced to decades in prison for an armed robbery during which they shot and injured two men.
The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reports that 19-year-old Derrick Wade was handed a 30-year prison term Thursday. His brother, 17-year-old Keshon Wade, received 21 years.
They were charged in a Nov. 8 armed robbery after going to a Bloomington apartment to help two other young men produce a video. The ended up shooting one man in the back and the other in the leg and neck. The Wade brothers had allegedly demanded money and a camera.
Prosecutor Adam Ghrist said it's never a happy day when young people go to prison. But he said this was "an example of problems with gun violence and youth."
