Cards’ Kelly Productive on Mound and Plate

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) - Joe Kelly pitched into the sixth inning and had three hits to help the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Atlanta Braves 6-2 yesterday.

Kelly went five and one third innings, allowing four hits and a run in Kissimmee, Florida. Kelly made 37 appearances for the Cardinals last season, and went 10-5 with a 2.69 ERA.

Cubs split-squad rallies past Royals 6-5

SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) - James Shields struck out 10 in six scoreless innings for Kansas City, but the Royals lost 6-5 to a split-squad of Chicago Cubs on Saturday.

Brett Jackson hit a three-run homer off Kansas City's Jon Rauch in the eighth, and then had a go-ahead, two-run single against Tim Collins in the ninth.
