A Lewis County school bus driver has been cleared of charges he had struck a child.

Canton R-5 bus driver Terre Buffington was placed on paid leave in April after the Missouri Children’s Division had received a claim of child abuse against Buffington.

Canton Superintendent Andy Anderson reports he received a letter from the Children’s Division, stating that after an investigation, they found the charges against Buffington were unsubstantiated.

As a result of the charges, the Canton school board has gone ahead with plans to purchase cameras for the district’s buses.
