Buddhist Monk on Cross Country Fundraising Bike Ride

A Washington, D.C. native who is now a Zen Buddhist monk in Japan is in the midst of a coast-to-coast bike ride to raise money for a children’s hospital in his hometown.

Gregory Filson, known in the Zen order as Monk Mumon, started in San Francisco in May and stayed Thursday night in Hannibal on his way to the nation’s capital.

Filson has been a bicyclist for many years, so when he decided to help the Children’s National Medical Center Foundation, the “how” was easy…

Filson’s goal is to reach Washington D.C. by late July.
