Big Lots to Close 40 Stores – How Many Illinois Locations?
There were some very dire statements in a new update from Big Lots about what the rest of the year will be like for the retail chain. Reports say there are plans to close 40 stores and the question now is how many of the 29 current Illinois locations will be affected.
I saw this report today from Ozark Radio News which pointed to a new filing report to the US Securities and Exchange Commission. This quote from Big Lots filing will give you an idea of the struggle the company is having right now:
"the Company has concluded there is a significant likelihood that it will be unable to comply with the Excess Availability Covenant under the 2022 Credit Agreement and the Term Loan Facility within the next 12 months, which raises substantial doubt about the Company’s ability to continue as a going concern"
Here are the current Illinois locations of Big Lots according to their website:
- Alton
- Bourbonnais
- Burbank
- Calumet City
- Centralia
- Champaign
- Country Club Hills
- Crest Hill
- Danville
- Decatur
- East Peoria
- Elgin
- Fairview Heights
- Franklin Park
- Galesburg
- Lockport
- Machesney Park
- Mattoon
- Moline
- Mount Vernon
- Niles
- Oakbrook Terrace
- Peoria
- Peru
- Quincy
- Round Lake Beach
- Springfield
- Wood Dale
The filing with the government by Big Lots does not specify what the locations will be of the planned 40 store closings. As this is a developing story, it will be updated once Big Lots announces which stores will close their doors.
