With a Wind Chill Advisory in effect for the area Wednesday night and Thursday, agencies in the area have announced a number of locations designated as heating centers for those needing shelter from the bitter cold.

The Quincy Salvation Army says that whenever cold weather advisories are issued, the Kroc Center serves as a heating center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week.

Other warming centers in Quincy include the Illinois Department of Human Services office on Maine, the Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center on York and Horizons Social Services on South 8th.

In northeast Missouri, warming centers include the Nutrition Centers in Hannibal, Palmyra and Perry, the Senior Center in Ewing, the Senior Nutrition Center in Monroe City, the Senior Citizens Center in Canton and the Hill Top Senior Center in LaGrange.
