New London is the epicenter this weekend for folks that enjoy hunting for unique and vintage items. The Northeast Missouri Pickers Market runs until 5 p.m.Saturday and 10 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the New London City Park and the Old School Marketplace.

Two special guests will be on hand in New London Saturday:  Robert Kulp and Mike Whiteside from the “Salvage Dawgs” Show. Over 100 vendors are expected from multiple states.  Additional parking is available at the New London Lions Club and the Ralls County Courthouse, with shuttle service running on Saturday.  $5 admission for adults, children under 12 free.

Area young people will compete Saturday for the chance to take the field at the Major League Baseball All-Star game this summer.The Hannibal Jaycees are hosting the Pitch, Hit and Run competition Saturday at Bear Creek Sports Park.  The event is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 14. Registration gets underway at 11:30 a.m., with competition starting at noon.

And, if someone tells you to "go fly a kite", head to Hannibal La-Grange University Sunday afternoon!  HLGU and Hannibal Parks and Recreation are sponsoring their first Kite Festival from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.  Participants may bring their own kite, or make one with the help of recreation management students.  Kite assembly will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. at HLGU's Mabee Sports Complex.  Kites will take to the air from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Blackwell Soccer Field, weather permitting.

Speaking of weather, the forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies, with temps in the 60's Sunday afternoon. Most importantly, winds will be out of the east at 10 mph, gusting as high as 20 mph.
