The Adams County Emergency Management Agency will be conducting a severe weather exercise today as they test the emergency operation center's storm spotters activation and communications protocols. This is an opportunity to test and refresh skills before the severe weather season impacts our area.

Last year only two tornado watches were issued for Adams County and neither resulted in spotter activations.  The purpose of spotters is to report developing conditions as they occur to the emergency center to aid the center in warning the general public of the potential of severe weather.

According to John  Simon, the Emergency Management Agency Director for Adams County, "planning, training and exercising is vital to ensure that we are ready to respond before severe weather strikes".
