Governor Jay Nixon announces over a million dollars in grants are headed to selected communities in need of water system improvements.
The Missouri DNR grants are for engineering costs related to wastewater system improvements in communities with less than 10,000 people.  Eligible communities may receive an 80 percent grant with a 20 percent match.

Communities in northeast Missouri that qualify for the grants include: Hunnewell with an award amount of $32,000, Ewing with $21,600, and Monticello with $12,000.

In addition to the engineering grants, the Governor’s 2016 budget proposal includes $70 million in bonding for wastewater and stormwater infrastructure needs throughout the state.
