The owner of the former St. Elizabeth Hospital property pleads guilty in Marion County Circuit Court to a public nuisance violation.

70 year old Stephen Owsley was fined $500 for violating the city’s nuisance ordinance. Judge John Jackson agreed to suspend $400 of the fine if Owsley pays $100 plus court costs and remains under court supervision for the next two years.

According to City Attorney James Lemon, recent discussions between Owsley and the city have centered on keeping the property clean and building secure.

The citation against Owsley was issued last summer after a small fire in the building, along with broken windows and an open pit filled with stagnant water.
