The Marion County Commission gave its endorsement Monday to the plan to convert the former St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hannibal to senior housing.

Hannibal City Manager Jeff LaGarce and representative for the developers of the property appeared before the commission to update them on the $9.5 million dollar project.

The developers are seeking tax credits from the Missouri Housing Development Commission to help finance the project.

An endorsement has already been received from the city, but the developers wanted to take the extra step of getting the county’s blessing.

The commissioners voted 2-0 to give their endorsement to the project.
