The Marion County Commission Monday agreed to do its part to help the redevelopment of the former St. Elizabeth Hospital property to move forward.

The commissioners heard from Hannibal City Manager Jeff LaGarce. He told the commission that a group of investors who want to spend up to $10-million dollars to turn the old hospital into senior apartments has asked for help in getting the project started.

Commissioners agreed to forgive back tax liabilities and penalties levied against the previous owner of the property.

Similar action has already been taken by the Hannibal City Council and the Hannibal School District.
