MIAMI (AP) - A 50-year-old computer technician from McHenry, Ill., is $75,000 richer, courtesy of LeBron James' foundation. Michael Drysch hit a one-handed hook shot from midcourt between periods of yesterday's game between James' Miami Heat and the Detroit Pistons. James sprinted toward Drysch and hugged him after the shot went in.
CHICAGO (AP) - The Chicago White Sox have added a veteran arm to their bullpen. Right-hander Matt Lindstrom signed a one-year deal yesterday that includes a club option for 2014. It'll pay him $2.3 million, and either $4 million in 2014 or a $500,000 buyout. He was 1-0 with a 2.68 ERA in 46 games with Baltimore and Arizona last season.
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Notre Dame's president says the university determined the Manti Te'o dead girlfriend hoax has held up despite unrelenting scrutiny. He says that until earlier this month, officials believed she was real. Rev. John Jenkins sent the school's board of trustees a letter outlining and defending the actions of the school. The Associated Press obtained the letter from an official on condition of anonymity.
