This 15-Year-Old Illinois Girl Honored for Saving Her Mom’s Life
This could have been a tragedy. Instead, it's a day to honor a 15-year-old Illinois girl who's quick thinking during her mom's medical emergency while driving likely saved both of their lives.
CBS Chicago told the story of Reaghan Monahan who is a sophomore at Tinley Park High School. Her mom was driving her to a volleyball game recently when her mom passed out while having a medical issue. It was then that Reaghan became a hero.
Imagine this. While driving down the road, her mom had a seizure so Reaghan grabbed the steering wheel and moved her mother's seat back so her foot would leave the gas pedal. She then brought the car to a stop on the side of the road and flagged down a firefighter passing by.
Reaghan's mother is OK now and is getting medical help for whatever caused her emergency issue. The ceremony honoring Reaghan was a surprise for her by first responders at Tinley Park High School in Tinley Park, Illinois.
The irony is that Reaghan only had a learner's permit while she completed driver's education class. I believe there's a good chance she's gonna pass that class. She is definitely a young lady who is and should be hailed as a hero.
