A Missouri House interim education committee is recommending changes to student transfers, more funding for early childhood education and increased learning time for students.
Hundreds of Missouri schools will take part in a pilot project for a new standardized English and math test. "The Smarter Balanced" tests are being given to students in grades 3 through 11 starting this month. A consortium of 24 states has been developing the new testing system.
