The Hannibal Pirates and Fort Zumwalt East Lions had what turned out to be a shootout in the snow Friday night. But, in the end, the Pirates prevailed, winning the district championship with a 48-34 win in St. Peters, Missouri.
Hannibal kept their unbeaten season going with a 35-14 victory over Jefferson City Helias. Shamar Griffith again led the Pirates' offense with 30 carries for 137 yards and four touchdowns, while Jerry McBride carried 15 times for 169 yards and a score.
For the second consecutive year, the Palmyra Panthers win their Class 2 district championship game over Bowling Green, taking the title with a 30-6 win over the Bobcats Friday night.
