The New Madrid Fault is responsible for 3 earthquakes Friday morning in the Missouri bootheel of nearly equal magnitude over a two-hour period and in a straight line.

Those that live in the Missouri Bootheel are known for telling some great tall tales. In this case, they weren't fibbing about an earthquake they say they just felt.

I feel compelled to come to the defense of my people. No, I have not lived in the Missouri Bootheel (yet), but I've found a map that claims the people there are dumb and I must prove with science that it's completely wrong.

The 'Doomsday Plane' secretly flew over the Missouri bootheel recently and I can prove it.

Missouri has changed a lot in the past 120 years and no area more than the Bootheel which used to be one great big swamp.

If you go to the southeastern part of Missouri, don't even think of wearing this if you're a woman. It will get you locked up and they'll likely throw away the key. That's a slight exaggeration, but it is illegal there and I'll prove it.

I tend to be a history buff. For that reason, I decided I needed to know how and why Missouri ended up with a bootheel. The answers are varied and some are hysterical even blaming Arkansas for the appendage on the bottom of the Show Me State.
