If you see more Amish buggies on Missouri highways than usual this week, this is why.

If you bring up this Missouri place to anyone that's adventured there, you'll hear phrases like "must visit", "one of a kind" and "unique in and of itself". It's not only one of the most popular Amish places in Missouri, but also one of the largest and most desirable in America.

I am so glad we live in the part of America that also has so many vibrant Amish communities. And, when I say "vibrant", I'm obviously not talking about the color of clothing, but the natural way of life that they share including their grocery stores which are unlike any you've probably ever seen as new video from Illinois proves.

I am not a fan of stereotypes of anything and love proving the incorrect ones untrue. There's a perception that Missouri Amish families cannot use firearms, but the truth might just surprise you.

Like many in northeast Missouri, I live near many Amish families and greatly respect their faith and approach to life. I was under the impression that they were adverse to all kinds of technology, but I'm apparently wrong as Missouri Amish are apparently able to use computers - sort of. It's rather complicated.

It's not a great commentary on our current society, but when you think about it, there are very few things you can absolutely count on. These things are an exception. There are at least 5 things you will never see a faithful Missouri Amish man do no matter what.

We have many wonderful Amish communities that thrive throughout Missouri. Not many outsiders fully understand their lifestyle or their traditions, but there are new insights into surprising rules that Amish women in Missouri absolutely must follow.

I tend to watch a lost of disaster movies which probably explains why I find subjects like this fascinating. If a lethal solar flare were to be unleashed by the sun, where would you be most likely to survive? The answer? Missouri and the reason why is fun.
