The annual Young Masters art exhibit, featuring the works of student artists from Hannibal schools, is now on display at the Hannibal Arts Council. The exhibit will be open for viewing during regular gallery hours through April 29.

“Young Masters is an opportunity to recognize student work, inspire and nurture the next generation of artists and support the arts instructors working hard to provide quality arts education in our schools," said Michael Gaines, executive director of the Hannibal Arts Council.

Young Masters features works by selected 5th and 8th Grade students from Hannibal’s public and parochial schools and Hannibal High School students. Participating in the exhibit are students from the classes of the following art instructors: Tara Jacobs (Veterans Elementary), Katie Amos (Mark Twain Elementary), Amber Barron (Oakwood Elementary), Michele Dent (Eugene Field Elementary), Stephen Schisler (Stowell Elementary), Shelly Lowe (Holy Family), Sarah Courtney (Hannibal Middle School) and Susan Friesen, James Zimmerman and Christina Strode (Hannibal High School). Each instructor selected a specific number of pieces to be included in the exhibit.

A closing reception for Young Masters will take place at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 South Maine Street, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29. The public is invited to attend.

Hannibal Arts Council hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Wednesday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. The Hannibal Arts Council is closed Tuesdays and Sundays. In addition to regular gallery hours, other viewing options include 5 - 8 p.m. Saturday, April 12 during Second Saturday Gallery Night.
