As the USGS documents, the New Madrid fault system is responsible for quakes frequently. However, this 3.2 is one of the strongest along the New Madrid fault so far in 2022.

The USGS Shake Map shows this quake was felt as far north as Rolla and also down into northern Arkansas.

Let's be clear that a 3.2 magnitude quake on the Richter Scale is still a relatively minor quake that wouldn't do much damage even if it happened right underneath you. But, it's big enough to pay attention to.

It will be interesting to see if this is just an isolated quake or the beginning of a swarm or possibly bigger quake to follow. Never a dull moment when you have a fault system like this more or less in your own backyard.
