The statewide office holder who will be at the top of the ballot this fall was in Hannibal Saturday.

State Auditor Tom Schweich was the keynote speaker at the Marion County Republican Central Committee’s Lincoln Day Breakfast.

Schweich’s message to the local party faithful was to maintain focus on this fall’s election:

The Republicans have veto-proof majorities in the Missouri House and the MIssouri Senate. I'm running for re-election. There's a lot of really important county and local races... we need to really do first things first. Let's do really well in 2014, get a really solid base of good Republicans, keep our veto-proof majorities, and that will give us the kind of momentum we need in 2016."

Schweich was first elected auditor in 2010, and faces no Democratic opposition for re-election this fall.
