Preventing blindness is the goal of the Ralls County Health Department as they host free eye screenings Friday, March 27.

The health department partners with the University of Missouri at Columbia for the screenings, which will take place from 8:30-11 a.m. and noon-3 p.m. at the Ralls County Health Department in New London.

The purpose of the clinic is to screen for vision problems, malfunctions and malformations of the eyes. There are no age or income restrictions. Exams will be conducted by resident ophthalmologists from the Mason Eye Institute at UMC.

Anyone needing further treatment will be referred to a local eye care specialist. Assistance may be available for those who meet Prevention of Blindness eligibility requirements.

You will need to make an appointment for your screening by calling the Ralls County Health Department at 573-985-7121.
