Summer is a time when more people are active outdoors, raising the risk for injuries that might require a trip to the hospital and the need for blood.

Despite the increased need in the summertime, folks might not think to make blood donations this time of year.

The Ralls County Health Department hosts a blood drive Monday, June 30 from 3-7 p.m. at the health department office on Highway 61 in New London.

The hosting of blood drives is just one of a myriad of services provided by the Ralls County Health Department. From WIC and other services for children and families, to home health care for the elderly wanting to stay independent.
