Despite the best efforts of Quincy city officials, a company that has had a presence in the city for over 90 years is leaving.

Officials with Quincy Compressor announced Tuesday the Quincy plant will close operations over the next year as they consolidate operations over the next year at its headquarters in Bay Minette, Alabama.

A task force representing the city had met with company and union officials, offering incentives to keep Quincy Compressor open.

The closing affects 152 employees in Quincy.

Quincy Compressor first opened in 1920. The company makes reciprocating and rotary screw air compressors, vacuum pumps and air treatment components.
