Press release from Quincy Community Theatre
A brand new story is about to begin at Quincy Community Theatre. After one day of open auditions, a cast of over 30 local performers has been chosen to participate in the world premiere of LADY WINDERMERE’S FAN: THE MUSICAL, a never-before-seen musical comedy based on the play by Oscar Wilde.
Over the next few weeks, this talented group of vocalists from Quincy, Pittsfield, Carthage, Camp Point, and Hannibal will help create musical theatre history as they prepare for the first performance of this new adaptation.
Leading the cast is Kelsey Celek as Lady Windermere, the innocent wife of Lord Windermere who believes that people are either good or bad; Kirsten Myers as Lord Windermere, the perfect man and ideal husband who, unfortunately, is the subject of many nasty rumors; Jason Epley as Lord Darlington, the charming bachelor who attempts to lure Lady Windermere astray; Karol Ehmen as Mrs. Erlynne, a fashionable and nervy woman who is determined to return to society; Doris Sanders as the Duchess of Berwick, a talkative noblewoman highly interested in scandal and drama; Dan Tanna as Lord Augustus “Tuppy” Lorton, the loveable older gentleman terribly in love with Mrs. Erlynne; Quinton Metcalf as Mr. James Hopper, an Australian businessman in love with the Duchess of Berwick’s daughter; Brittany Daly as Lady Agatha Carlisle, the Duchess of Berwick’s agreeable daughter; and Michael Gash as Parker, the Windermere’s butler.
Joining the ensemble are Sarah Anderson, Amanda Cox, Emily Dozier, Jen Drew, Jerilyn Dufresne, Mason Ellison, Adrienne Fisk, Mike Flanagan, Angela Guthrie, Craig Hall, Joshua Hetzler, Beth Izzo, Paige Mueller, Kelsey Pigg, Dick Rees, Mary Schoenekase, Susan Scholz, Joshua Scott, Sidney Shackleton, Darwin Smith, Steven Soebbing, Terry Solter, and Beth Thordsen.
LADY WINDERMERE’S FAN tells the story of the Windermeres. Lord Windermere has a secret—and Lady Windermere thinks she knows what it may be: adultery. Although he fervently denies any wrongdoing, Lord Windermere invites his supposed lover to Lady Windermere’s birthday ball. But when Lady Windermere concocts an equally scandalous plan to leave the marriage, she unintentionally spurs a series of events that could leave them all in ruin. Overflowing with beautiful new melodies and Wilde’s signature wit, LADY WINDERMERE’S FAN is a must-see for those who wish to experience theatre history in the making.
LADY WINDERMERE’S FAN is directed by Artistic Director Brandon Thomsen, with vocal direction by Elizabeth Mannhardt.
Tickets are $9, on sale January 4. Performances are January 15-16, Friday-Saturday at 7:30 and will be held in the Lab Theatre. Seating is extremely limited.
