A Hannibal golf course is hosting a tournament in June that will draw professional golfers from all over the country. No, it's not the Country Club, or Norwoods or the American Legion Course ... it's Sawyer's Creek.

Sawyer's Creek Family Fun Park south of Hannibal on Highway 79 is hosting the U.S. Professional Mini-Golf Association's Missouri State Open Tournament June 9-10. And, in the interest of full disclosure, a conversation I had with Jeanne Youngwirth at Sawyer's Creek about a year ago started all this.

When my wife and I went to Branson last May, we discovered the U.S. Open Mini-Golf tourney was being played at one of the courses there. We mentioned this to Jeanne, and that got her curiosity up and she contacted the USPMGA. She got the Sawyer's Creek course approved by the organization, and they asked her to host the event in June.

In conjunction with the pro tourney, Sawyer's Creek will also host a benefit tournament for Leaps of Love on Friday, June 8.

So, if you're a mini-golfer, you might want to mark the second weekend in June on your calendar.
