Authorities have charged two Swansea parents who they say rolled on and killed their newborn baby while asleep in bed.

Twenty-six-year-old Ashlee Bridger and 20-year-old Darius Pierce are each charged with one count of felony child endangerment in the death of their 20-day-old son, Malikai Bridger.

Swansea Police Chief Mike Arnold says the suspects were drunk on July 10 when they went to sleep in the bed with the baby. He says one of them rolled onto the baby in the night and he wasn't breathing when they woke up. They called 911 but paramedics couldn't revive him. Police say he died of asphyxiation.

The two are being held at the St. Clair County Jail on $15,000 bond.

Online court records didn't indicate an attorney.
