Missouri Driver Distracted by Phone Takes Life of Highway Worker

It's so tragic and so preventable. This is the story of a Missouri highway worker who's life was taken from him by a woman who was distracted by her phone.

Randall Siddens was working cleanup on a roadside in Missouri when a distracted driver slammed into him. She was traveling 68 miles per hour at the time of collision. This is his story.

According to The Columbia Missourian, Randall was thrown 127 feet by the impact and suffered horrific fatal injuries. The driver, Regine McCracken, was sentenced to 10 years in prison as a result. They reported that Regine took the stand to express her sadness for what took place that day.

I can’t begin to explain how much it hurts to know that I took him away from so many that loved him,” she said. “I know I have altered your family forever. I make no excuses. I cannot change what happened. There is no apology or amends that I can make that will make you or your children whole.

In the video, Randall's widow describes her husband as a great dad who included his children in everything he could and that were always close to their father. Thanks to a few seconds on a phone, they will not have him around to enjoy those moments again.
