Missouri and Iowa’s Tax-Free Weekend Starts Friday, Here’s What You Can Save On
I don't know about you, but this weekend I look forward to every school year, tax-free weekend.
Mark your calendars, the Tax-Free Weekend in Missouri is coming up on Friday, August 6th through Sunday. August 8th. You do not have to be a Missouri resident, or student to participate in the event. Shoppers will not be taxed on:
- Clothing and shoes:$100 or less per item
- School supplies:$50 or less per item
- Computer software:$350 or less per item
- Personal computers and computer peripheral devices:$1,500 or less per item
- Graphing calculators:$150 or less per item
I did get all the school supplies bought for my girls, but clothes and computers are high on my list this year to purchase this weekend in Missouri. Iowa is also having a tax-free weekend, but is only two days (Friday, August 6th and Saturday, August 7), and like Missouri you do not need to be a resident of the state to participate. Illinois does not participate in a tax-free weekend.
For a lot of parents, myself included, this is a big weekend to start and finish all the back-to-school shopping. It really does save you so much money, and I wish Illinois had this program, even if it was just for one day. Just lucky to be adjacent to two-states that have this for everyone to participate in and save. Every little bit counts, these tax-free weekends help so many families get their kids ready for back-to-school.
