This year marks the 10th anniversary for Quincy's Midsummer Arts Faire. Even though the event is now a decade old, I had never attended until last summer. I happened to be babysitting my then seven-year-old niece that weekend, and we were looking for something to do. We gave the Arts Faire a try, and had a great time!

I was surprised at just how much there was for kids to participate in. Hands-on art activities, Art for Everyone, included painting, throwing pots on a potters wheel and print making. There was also a special area, the Young Collectors Gallery, with art for sale at prices that kids could afford. Nothing in that area was priced over $10, and adults are were  not allowed to shop there.

The entertainment was also perfect for a seven-year-old. She particularly enjoyed the various dance performances that took place around the fountain area of Washington Park.  She also had a great time running through the fountain, when there were no performances taking place.

Not only was our first Midsummer Arts Faire experience a lot of fun, it actually ended up being one of the most enjoyable events we attended all last year. The 2013 Midsummer Arts Faire takes place on June 28, 29 and 30 in Washington Park. Our family is looking forward to our second visit!
