Quincy Community Theatre is giving Tri-State residents the rare opportunity to leave their mark on musical theatre history.

QCT will hold auditions December 10 for the never-before-seen musical adaptation of LADY WINDERMERE’S FAN, open to male and female vocalists ages 18 and up. This “in concert” style presentation will allow actors and actresses to perform the show with the script and score in front of them, meaning rehearsals will be minimal. The cast will not rehearse over the holidays.

LADY WINDERMERE’S FAN, adapted from the original comedy by Oscar Wilde, is more than a production—it’s a unique opportunity for local talent to help shape the songs and dialogue of this new musical work.

“Broadway musicals are workshopped in New York City and then they present a full production “out of town” in San Diego or Chicago, for example, before facing the critics of New York City,” said Artistic Director Brandon Thomsen. “This gives the writing and production teams the opportunity to test out the material – what works and what doesn’t. We are providing that same opportunity here in Quincy.”

LADY WINDERMERE’S FAN tells the story of the Windermeres. Lord Windermere has a secret—and Lady Windermere thinks she knows what it may be: adultery. Although he fervently denies any wrongdoing, Lord Windermere invites his supposed lover to Lady Windermere’s birthday ball. But when Lady Windermere concocts an equally scandalous plan to leave the marriage, she unintentionally spurs a series of events that could leave them all in ruin. Overflowing with beautiful new melodies and Wilde’s signature wit, LADY WINDERMERE’S FAN is a must for those who wish to experience theatre history in the making. Performances are January 15 & 16.

Auditionees should prepare a song of their choice and come prepared to learn a song from the show and to read dialogue from the script. An accompanist will be provided, so auditionees are asked to provide sheet music. Auditionees should also familiarize themselves with the script, available online. A password is required for access. Detailed audition requirements and character descriptions are available at www.1qct.org/on-stage/auditions.

LADY WINDERMERE’S FAN is directed by Artistic Director Brandon Thomsen with music direction by Elizabeth Mannhardt.

All roles are available and all auditionees are welcome, regardless of prior experience. To schedule an audition or for password information, contact the QCT Box Office at (217) 222-3209.
