The Hannibal Arts Council will host a concert featuring Jazz drummer, and Hannibal native, Marty Morrison on December 15.

“We are very excited to have Marty back in Hannibal to play. We are proud of him and his talents,” says Michael Gaines, HAC Executive Director. “We are also looking forward to hearing Ptah Williams on the piano. His first performance in Hannibal impressed us all. He is one of St. Louis' finest jazz pianists. He makes the piano breathe and dance. Making up the last piece of the trio will be Bob DeBoo, an accomplished upright bass player and mainstay in the St. Louis jazz scene.”

The December 15 performance will be at 6 p.m. at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 South Main Street. Tickets will be available at the door. Prices are $15 for the general public, and $10 for Hannibal Arts Council members. Students will be admitted free with a student I.D.

Morrison has been playing the drums since he was five years old. After graduating from Hannibal High School, Morrison attended Missouri State University in Springfield, then earned his Bachelor of Music Degree at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He has also completed his Master’s Degree in Music. Following the performance in Hannibal, Morrison will be taking off on a new chapter as a Professor of Jazz Studies at Missouri State University in Springfield.
