You have likely heard a lot of stories about a woman and her son, but I can almost guarantee you haven't seen one like this one. It's a touching movie made by a man about his Illinois mother and how she raised another son that was actually an abandoned baby squirrel.

I saw this neat movie trending on Digg and wanted to share it with you. The filmmaker is Tom Krawczyk. He lives in Poland now, but his mother is still in Chicago. During the beginning of the pandemic when it was nearly impossible to get an animal into a shelter, she found this abandoned baby squirrel in her backyard. She took it in and nursed it back to health and then ultimately let it go.

Tom's words shared by the New York Times are special:

I saw my mother raise him as she raised me — with meticulous love and care. But he was a wild animal, and eventually my mother had to do what all mothers do: let her child go out into the world.

I'm not crying. You're crying. There's a reason why Tom's website shows this short film has won many awards. Amazing telling of how his own mother used the same motherly skills that made him into the man he is to now help heal a helpless animal. A kind effort of humanity on her part and a great telling by a son.
