I must state from the beginning I don't completely agree with the "creepiness" description of this Missouri trail. It's been declared the "creepiest hike in Missouri" that allegedly takes hikers by the remnants of a ghost town - allegedly.

Only In Your State just did an interesting feature on the Weldon Springs Conservation Area. Specifically it's the Lost Valley Trail and the long, lost town of Hamburg. I say "allegedly" in regards to the ghost town because it's dang hard to find. This hiker went out of his way to find Hamburg and while he found some interesting things, not much was there.

There really are some nice places within this trail system though. This might be the exception. There is definitely a "Blair Witch" vibe to this abandoned Boy Scout building.

It's not all bad though. This is a nice Missouri nature place.

This tunnel is absolutely nightmare fuel though. Not going through this one, nope.

The Missouri Department of Conservation has an official website with guides on how to make the most of this place. They say there are some really great fishing spots along the walk, too, if you don't mind packing a rod and reel on your hike. They make no mention of the lost town of Hamburg though probably because they can't find it either.

The trails in the Weldon Springs Conservation Area aren't far away located just west of the St. Louis area. Hike it...if you dare.
