A plant closure in Missouri will mean 283 workers will be jobless later this year once it's complete as announced by their company today.

The state of Missouri's Jobs site says that there will be a mass layoff of 283 workers starting at the end of July and will be complete by the end of the year when the plant closes. It will impact the Timken plant located at 2601 W Battlefield R in Springfield, Missouri.

In a WARN notice submitted to the jobs authorities in Missouri by Timken, it provided details of what's happening and when:

"We are writing to give you notice that there will be a full plant closure of the Timken Belts facility located at 2601 W Battlefield R in Springfield, MO. This will be a permanent layoff. The expected date of the first separation will be August 2026. Employees are expected to be separated from employment beginning in August 2026 with all separations accomplished by December 2026."

According to their website, Timken Belts is a manufacturer of premium industrial rubber power transmission belts, including V-belts, synchronous, and banded belts. They have quite a history dating back to 1899 when the company was founded.

There is now an updated WARN notice shared by Timken Belts which lists all of the positions that will be affected.
