This is the Clay County Savings Association in Liberty, Missouri. It was the day before Valentine's Day in 1866 when Jesse James and the other members of the James-Younger Gang entered this small financial institution and demanded the contents of the safe. It was the first daytime bank robbery in American history.

That bank is now a Jesse James Bank Museum. Let's look inside. This is the bank lobby as it looks today. That teller area would have been where Jesse and the gang first directed their fury.

It was this vault that Jesse James would have the most interest in. The contents of the safe would be emptied and handed over the them.

The bank now has a board replete with headlines from that era of the infamous actions of the James-Younger Gang.

The clock on the wall was stopped at the time of the robbery which was around 2p in the afternoon on February 13, 1866.
