You're not likely to find a more quaint chapel in Missouri or anywhere else for that matter. It contains brilliant artwork and more than 1,200 pieces of hand-cut glass.

The official website says it was inspired by Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. It's the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Missouri. It was built in the early 1980's and now stands as one of the more beautiful chapels in the state. The stained glass in the chapel is breathtaking.

This will likely come as a surprise to those that know me best, but I have a personal connection to Precious Moments figurines. My mother collected dolls nearly her entire adult life after her family could not afford them when she was a child. Back in 2013, she donated nearly her entire doll collection to an auction that benefitted the Salvation Army in Quincy/Hannibal. That included hundreds of Precious Moments figurines.

I remember that she and my dad eventually took a trip to visit the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Missouri and am pretty sure she bought a couple while she was there. It's very much more than just some sort of doll museum. It truly is one of the more peaceful and stunning places you can visit in Missouri.

Oh, and it's free, too. There's no admission charge to visit the Precious Moments Chapel.
