I wish there was a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow. Sadly, there is not. However, there is one Missouri hike that will reward your efforts with the sight of an abandoned rock quarry and it's worth the trip.

I used to hike quite a bit in Missouri, but sadly don't take the time to do it much anymore. It's one of those activities that you're really glad when you do it. It's getting to the point of putting on the boots and getting outside that's the hard part.

If you're looking for an adventure, here's one to consider. I saw Only In Your State mention Whitecliff Park which is located near Crestwood, Missouri (think St. Louis area). I was not aware of it, but that's my loss. It looks like a neat place. Here's an overhead of part of the trail captured by drone.

The city of Crestwood says that this place occupies 85 acres and houses a nice surprise at the end of the trail. It's what used to be an active rock quarry. Wonder what's in that watery cave? Where's my canoe?

All Trails says this is one of the easiest hikes you can do in Missouri taking less than an hour to complete the mile and a half loop. The fact that it includes an old quarry as part of the scenery is just gravy for the hiking effort required to put in to get there.
