Missouri’s Poorest County is Much Richer Than You Think
There are different ways to measure how rich your life is and this is a perfect example. The poorest county in Missouri is much richer than you think and I'll prove it.
I'm surprised that I haven't seen the internet sharing something about this before since the net loves to declare the "best" and "worst" places or who's rich and who's poor. If you sort all the Missouri counties on Wikipedia by per capita income, you'll find one Missouri county below all the others.
Way down at the bottom of the income brackets, you'll find a tiny Missouri county in the southern part of the state called Oregon. The per capita income is only $15,093 and the median household income is $26,144. By financial definitions, they are "poor".
However, it just so happens that Oregon County is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Missouri. You'll find forests everywhere and it's not hard to find a quiet moment there either.
Look up Grand Gulf State Park, Falling Spring Mill and Greer Crossing Recreational Area. Many consider this area one of the real hidden gems in Missouri and I would agree.
Sure, you can measure places in Missouri by income, but who's really rich? I would argue it's people who can walk out their front door and find sights like this. In my eyes, they are some of the richest people in Missouri and no one can change my mind.
