Missouri’s New Roundabout Is Causing Major Driver Reactions
Keep telling yourself everything is going to be alright. Missouri has announced a new roundabout is about to open at a major interstate junction and drivers are going out of their minds, but it will be fine. Seriously.
The MODOT Central Missouri District shared an update on social media today announcing a new roundabout where I-54 meets I-70 in Kingdom City and the response has been both frightening and hilarious.
Here are some of my favorite comments so far:
"What in the hell is that, looks dangerous"
"When does this track open, and what classes will be running?"
"It makes my brain hurt that people are unable to look at a picture and figure out the flow of traffic. This is beautiful."
"$20 on more than 10 wrecks bc y’all engineers and *** dumb"
"Reading some of these comments pretty scary to know some of you are actually out there driving."
I'm with that last person who is concerned about the many commenters who will soon be trying to navigate through this new Missouri roundabout. The press release from the Missouri Department of Transportation explains the need for this Kingdom City roundabout. Anyone that has traveled down I-54 to where it meets I-70 will tell you that traffic in that area can be dicey. I'm not a fan of roundabouts either, but statistics do show that they can reduce accidents. The question is does that apply to angry Missouri drivers? We'll find out soon enough as this opens overnight tonight.
