This isn't something born out of just one writer's opinion or anecdotal observations. World Population Review took a look at menu prices of the 5 most common fast food orders in America and documented what they cost in each state. Here are the fast food menu items they sampled:

  • Medium Dominos Cheese Pizza
  • McDonalds Happy Meal
  • McDonalds Big Mac
  • Chick-Fil-A Chicken Sandwich
  • Taco Bell Combo Meal

With all of those meals calculated, Missouri was found to have one of the lowest average fast food meal costs in America.

Why is fast food more affordable in Missouri compared to most other states?

While there are a number of factors that go into the economy of how much fast food is priced at in each state, Missouri benefits from a number of things including the state's central location in America which often makes transportation costs for goods less expensive. There is a general lower cost of living in Missouri which also contributes to the Show Me State being one of the cheapest in America for many different things. That means when you're in the mood for fast food or require it by necessity, it will cost you less in Missouri to feed your face with burgers and fries than elsewhere.
